Episode 5 The Abominable Snowman

Hello! And welcome to the fifth episode of Hammer House of Podcast, where Paul Cornell (Doctor Who, Elementary) and L.M. Myles (Verity!) discuss, in order of UK release, every horror movie made by Hammer Film Productions between 1955 and 1976, from The Quatermass Xperiment to To the Devil… A Daughter.
This episode we’re discussing 1957’s The Abominable Snowman, where Peter Cushing really wants to find a Yeti. It’s full of very impressive snow and mountains, fear, paranoia, and a monkey that has no business being 8000 feet above sea level. But are the Yeti themselves fluffy enough? The answer is no. There might be some deep, philosphical themes going on here, but without proper fluffy Yeti, can we actually appreciate them?
